Executive summary
This bank needed to upgrade their customer recording communications analysis & troubleshooting abilities, to comply with required regulations.
It was also important for them to identify and resolve problems proactively.
- The bank uses a large distributed system which collecting and recording customer communications (thousands of devices), storing them in a centralized repository.
- The bank encounters various problems on a daily basis, causing non-recording of communications, affecting their compliance, putting them at regulatory risk.
By implementing XpoLog they managed to significantly shorten the ‘loss-of-recording’ durations, perform quick troubleshooting and get to the root cause fast. Their ability to analyze/monitor their environments became much simpler and more efficient.
The Challenge and Requirements
The bank environment consists of more than 80 servers running bank-wide recording systems– application servers, web servers, databases and more.
- Each of these servers generates on average more than 10GB of data/day, over multiple log files.
- In order to analyze the different processes and environmental health, the information must be unified with multiple source correlation, and application of various validations logic.
- Additionally, the log files go through a fast rotation policy and must be quickly captured before valuable information disappears.

The Solution
XpoLog was integrated over all sources (infrastructure/applications) to collect all the data in near real-time, while storing and indexing it in a centralized repository.
A set of monitors was defined vis a vis critical problem to notify the operations team in near real-time.
Additionally, a set of live dashboards were defined to provide a visual view of the environment status, traffic, top problems and more.
The results
- Visibility into the entire environment (something that was previously unattainable).
- Instantaneous identification of critical problems in the environment.
- A major decrease in problem time to resolution.
- Shortened time of system-malfunctions, minimizing loss-of-recordings.
- Improved compliance requirements -SLA.
